Ecological Impact Assessment

Increasingly, developments within the UK and Europe are subject to the process of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), of which ecology is a key part. Baker Shepherd Gillespie has in-depth knowledge and experience of both formal and informal EIA and can manage the whole EIA process, as well as providing expert input on specific ecological issues.

Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA) requires an ability to assess and evaluate impacts on key ecological receptors and to address this through an appropriate program of mitigation and compensation measures. BSG's ecologists have considerable experience in evaluating potential impacts for a wide variety of developments and for a diverse range of species and habitats. Consequently BSG is able to offer pragmatic, cost-effective and workable solutions to sometimes very complex ecological problems.

BSG routinely applies current Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (IEEM) guidelines when carrying out EcIAs, but past experience has highlighted that this approach is not necessarily appropriate in all situations. As a result, we are able to provide assessments that are tailored to meet the needs of each project.
