Quality Assurance

Since its formation in 1997, Baker Shepherd Gillespie has developed a reputation for carrying out field work and preparing technical reports to a very high standard. The quality of our work is very important to us and our clients and for this reason BSG operates a robust quality assurance process.

A Partner or Principal Ecologist is allocated to the project at the point where a client commissions BSG to undertake work. They provide guidance and advice to the project team, including:

  • Guidance on the identification and evaluation of ecological issues.
  • Guidance on defining the scope of the work.
  • Agreement of project timescales and deadlines.
  • Development of reporting procedures and formats.
  • Developing links with clients to keep them informed of progress.

Field Surveys

All survey work is carried out in accordance with accepted guidance and protocols by skilled ecological surveyors, who are all members of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (IEEM). BSG complements these field skills by developing efficient systems for clearly and accurately recording data during field surveys. This ensures that data evaluation and interpretation is an efficient and defensible process.

Technical Reports

The preparation of informative, concise and robust technical reports is an important part of our work. The ability to clearly communicate detailed technical information to our clients is essential if ecological issues are to be understood and addressed. For this reason BSG operates a rigorous reviewing process. All documents are peer-reviewed by our Partners or Principal Ecologists prior to being published.

As part of its commitment to quality assurance BSG is working towards ISO9001 accreditation.
