This year we have recruited senior and/or principal consultants into our Oxford, Monmouth, Hathersage (Derbyshire) and Newcastle upon Tyne offices and made a number of promotions. For the past few years we have had a stable team of around 35 staff across the practice and our new recruits take us up to 42 staff, of which 37 are technical, and five are business support. These important additions to the team expand our capability in a number of technical areas, as well as increasing the availability of senior-level support to our clients.
Our Oxford office has added three new people: Greg Chamberlain (Principal Ecologist), John Baker (Senior Ecologist) and Tom Flynn (Senior Ecologist).
Greg brings with him over 20 years of professional experience, and is a welcome addition to our Senior Management Group. He specializes in the management of major infrastructure projects, remote sensing and freshwater ecological survey, and has a wide-range of more general capabilities. Judith Giles has been promoted to a Principal Ecologist in recognition of her depth and breadth of experience and her project and team management skills. Dr Jessica Frame has been promoted to a Senior Ecologist in recognition of her skills in aquatic ecology and her wide-ranging consultancy abilities.
John Baker and Dr Tom Flynn have specialized bird and botanical survey skills respectively. John joins us following six years at a multi-disciplinary consultancy where he undertook and co-ordinated a range of protected species and ornithological work, while Tom has recently finished a DPhil in Plant Sciences at Oxford University.

In response to the changing economic conditions, we have also added Senior Ecologists to three of our other offices.
Brian Armstrong has joined the Hathersage office. Brian has over 10 years’ experience in Local Government, as an ecologist for Peterborough and Sheffield City Councils. He has wide-ranging ecological survey skills and an excellent knowledge of the planning system.
Miriam Baines is a recent addition to our Newcastle-upon-Tyne office. She has over 25 years of experience as a professional ecologist working in both ecological consultancy and for Natural England. Miriam has specialist knowledge of upland plant communities, statutory protected sites and habitat management planning.
Niall Lusby is the new arrival in Monmouth. Niall has considerable experience of minerals, waste, residential and mixed use and renewables projects. He also has a wide range of protected species experience, and a particular interest in botany. His previous role was with a multi-disciplinary consultancy, and he has worked in the sector for over eight years.
