David joined BSG Ecology in 2005, initially working as a Field Assistant before becoming a full time staff member in 2006.
He has experience of working with a wide variety of clients, including utilities companies, local authorities, conservation organisations, developers and architects on a range of small to large scale projects, from conception through to completion. He also has considerable experience of railway schemes including working arrangements, health and safety policies and ecological survey co-ordination. His outputs regularly include baseline reports summarising the methods and results of survey programs, and the legal and policy implications of the species and habitats present.
David holds scientific survey licences for bats and great crested newt and undertakes a wide range of other habitat and protected species survey work, including Phase 1, badger, otter, reptile, water vole and white-clawed crayfish survey. He specialises in securing European Protected Species Licences and designing mitigation into development projects.
David has a broad science background, having studied physics and earth sciences at degree level and having worked in the field of geotechnics and in a physical testing laboratory prior to joining BSG Ecology.
