Helen Evriviades
Helen has been working as a consultant ecologist since 1998, working mainly in the UK, but also abroad. She has a sound understanding of ecological survey methodologies, planning guidance and legislation. She has a wide range of experience in ecological survey, including Phase 1 habitat survey, hedgerow survey and more detailed vegetation surveys (NVC) for certain habitats. Helen also has experience in species surveys including badgers, bats, reptiles, amphibians, dormice and brown hare. She also holds Natural England survey licences for dormice and great crested newts.
Helen is capable of providing high-level advice to clients, presenting clear information to non-ecologists regarding the implications of survey results and taking into consideration nature conservation legislation and planning guidance. She has experience of carrying out Ecological Impact Assessments, following the IEEM guidelines and designing and supervising the implementation of mitigation and compensation measures. Prior to joining BSG Ecology, Helen worked for two large engineering firms, providing ecological advice for all stages of large engineering projects including roads, rail and waterways.
Helen’s passion for nature conservation continues her spare time. She is involved in the British Trust for Ornithology’s Breeding Bird Survey and undertakes a transect survey of a square kilometre in Wiltshire each year. She is also a member of the Wiltshire Bat and Mammal Groups and is working towards her bat roost visitor licence.
