Liz has worked as a professional ecologist since 2005 and joined BSG Ecology in 2006.
She has undertaken work for a wide range of clients including energy, utilities and minerals companies, local authorities, housing developers, charities and conservation organisations. Liz also carries out BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes assessments.
Liz has experience in undertaking surveys for a range of species and biotic groups, including protected species and botanical work. She is experienced in completing baseline reports, licence applications and Ecological Impact Assessments. Liz also oversees the delivery of ecological mitigation, particularly in relation to European Protected Species Licences for great crested newt and bats, and has acted as Ecological Clerk of Works in relation to projects with the potential to affect water vole and reptiles. She holds Natural England Scientific Survey Licences for bats and great crested newt.
Liz is also skilled in the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Typical work includes the production of habitat maps, database creation and manipulation, data interpretation and thematic mapping.
After graduating from the University of Wales, Swansea in 2004, Liz undertook a range of conservation projects both through her voluntary work with the Biodiversity Officer at Swansea City Council and as Assistant Ecologist for Sheffield Wildlife Trust. At Sheffield Wildlife Trust Liz was involved in the Nature Reserves Project and the Coalfield Heathland Project as a Phase 1 Habitat surveyor, NVC surveyor and small mammal surveyor, also responsible for producing reports, and producing plans on GIS.
