Planning Policy Statements (PPS) set out the
Government's national policies on different aspects
of planning in England. PPS9 set outs planning
policies on protection of biodiversity and geological
conservation through the planning process.
BSG Partner, Andrew Baker presented a talk about
PPS9 at the annual conference of the Association
of Local Government Ecologists (ALGE)
on 2 December 2005.

European Court of Justice Ruling against the
UK
This is the link to the text of the ECJ ruling
against the UK regarding the transposition of
the Habitats Directive into UK domestic law. The
ruling is likely to require a review of the Habitats
Regulations and other UK planning law.
