Mark Norriss

Mark NorrissMark Joined BSG Ecology in March 2016 as an Ecologist and is based in the Oxford office.

Previously he has work as a consultant ecologist for both multi-disciplinary and specialist consultancies in the midlands and the northwest. He has a Masters degree in Species Identification and Survey Skills.

Mark has undertaken survey work on a range of projects, including commercial and residential development and infrastructure schemes, including extensive rail-related work. He can undertake a variety of protected species survey and can carry out ecological appraisal. He also has experience in delivering and monitoring mitigation and compensation measures for great crested newts, slow worms and badger, and is able to act as an ecological clerk of works.

Mark holds a Natural England Level 1 Survey Class licence for great crest newts and is currently working towards obtaining his Natural England Survey Class licence for bats. He has a keen interest in herpetofauna and mammals, and in wildlife legislation, policy and licensing.

Mark has experience in the collection, processing and analysis of species and habitat data. He has completed training on the GIS tool ArcGIS and can carry out spatial analysis of data. Mark is also experienced in the use of bat sound analysis programs to give accurate identification of bat calls.
