Alexander joined BSG Ecology’s Newcastle office in January 2022.Prior to joining BSG Alexander worked for a Wildlife Trust on a community ecological conservation project.
Alexander has experience conducting bat transect and vantage point surveys and great crested newt eDNA surveys. He also has experience in freshwater ecology, conducting kick-sampling methods in water courses and examining results in the laboratory.
Alexander has a keen interest in ornithology and is proficient in recognising many UK bird species by sight and sound. He has experience in conducting winter bird surveys and breeding bird surveys.
Alexander has a degree in BSc Environmental Science. His thesis focused on behavioural ecology, studying the feeding behavioural habits of the European goldfinch in relation to height and distance from protective cover.
In his free time Alexander is a keen boulderer and enjoys writing and photography. Some of his recent images have been recognised in the SINWP Bird Photographer of the Year Awards.
