Alison began working as a professional Ecologist in 2014 and joined BSG in 2018.
Alison has worked with a variety of clients across different sectors, including utility companies, local authorities, and commercial developers. In her previous role, she worked closely with contracting teams to manage site enhancement projects such as pond and woodland restoration schemes. She has experience of projects covering both phase 1 and phase 2 habitat and species surveys, ecological clerk of works support, ecological impact assessments, mitigation and enhancement design and habitat management plans. She also has experience in carrying out water vole, otter, bat, badger and invasive species surveys for the River Beane, River Mimram and River Gade restoration projects across Hertfordshire.
Alison’s particular technical interests lie in bat survey and mitigation; she currently holds a Natural England level 2 class survey licence for bats and is trained in tree climbing and aerial rescue. She has also been involved in bat research projects in the south-west using a variety of trapping methods to monitor local populations.
Alison studied Physical Geography at University and subsequently gained an MSc with Distinction in Environmental Consultancy. Her MSc dissertation investigated the condition of south Devon hedgerows under varying management regimes, the findings of which have since informed South Devon AONB policies and targets.
