Becky Gibbs | Ecologist | Newport

Becky Gibbs

Becky joined BSG Ecology’s Newport office in January 2022.

Prior to joining BSG, Becky worked as an assistant ecologist with a small regionally based ecological consultancy, where she gained experience in the management and delivery of small to medium sized projects, mainly in the public, commercial and residential sector. She also has experience in undertaking various protected species surveys, particularly relating to bats, dormouse and herps, and is currently working towards gaining her bat survey licence.

Becky has a Masters in Conservation and Biodiversity from Exeter University and a BSc (Hons) degree in Zoology from Swansea University. For her postgraduate thesis, she investigated bat activity and species composition in coastal habitats along the Cornish coastline. Whilst a student she was an active member of Cornwall Bat Group, regularly participating in harp trapping for the Bat Conservation Trust (BCT) Nathusius’ pipistrelle project.

In her free time Becky volunteers as a BCT registered bat carer, rehabilitating injured bats and releasing them once recovered. She is also an active member of the Gower ringing group as a trainee bird ringer working towards a C permit.
