Dan joined BSG Ecology as GIS Technician in April 2022.

Dan has ten years’ GIS experience across a range of sectors including geoscience consultancy for petroleum exploration, rural land management, forestry land management, energy and renewables, utilities and estate agency.  His background has included the use of ArcGIS (specifically expertise using Spatial Analyst, 3D analyst and Model Builder) and QGIS. His skills include complex geospatial data capture, analysis and visualisation at a range of spatial and temporal scales, geospatial data management as well as extensive project and business management experience.

Prior to joining BSG Ecology, Dan worked for a research-based geoscience consultancy for 3 years followed by a land management consultancy as a GIS manager for 7 years. Dan has a BSc (Hons) and PhD in Geology from the University of Glasgow where he specialised in large scale geomorphology and thermochronometry dating. He is also a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and holds a chartership (CGeog (GIS)).
