Daniel has worked in ecology since 2005 and joined BSG Ecology in February 2019. He has a sound understanding of nature conservation legislation and planning policy, and in providing robust advice on ecological issues to a variety of clients including residential, infrastructure, commercial, local authority, renewable energy and historic buildings. He is experienced in the production of ecological appraisal reports, mitigation strategies and Ecological Impact Assessments.
He has a range of survey experience including extended Phase 1 habitat survey with a specialism in protected species. He holds scientific survey licences for bats, great crested newt and barn owl and has considerable experience of reptile, badger, otter and water vole survey and mitigation.
Daniel is highly experienced in bat survey, mitigation design and call identification analysis and has held survey licenses since 2008. He has prepared and been the named ecologist on numerous bat development licences for common and widespread species in addition to whiskered, Natterer’s, Brandt’s, lesser horseshoe and Leisler’s bats. He is also a Registered Consultant on Natural England’s Bat Mitigation Class Licence register which allows the rapid determination of licences where the conservation importance of the roost concerned is low.
