Janine Burnham

Janine joined BSG Ecology in 2022.

She regularly designs and completes ecological surveys for planning applications and undertakes ecological appraisals and impact assessments.  She has considerable experience in the production of the biodiversity chapter of Environmental Impact Assessments.

Janine holds a protected species licence for dormouse in Wales and has prepared a number of successful European Protected Species Mitigation (EPSM) Licence applications for the species.

Janine has worked on a wide variety of complex projects including major transport infrastructure schemes (both road and rail), active travel routes and colliery spoil site remediation in South Wales. She regularly provides advice on legislation; planning policy and industry guidance relating to ecological issues and is experienced in designing mitigation strategies to meet both client need and ecological legislative and policy requirements.

Janine completed a BSc (Hons) in Ecology and MRes in Biosciences at Cardiff University and has worked in ecological consultancy since graduating in 2014. She is a founder member and current secretary for a voluntary conservation group in South Wales and carries out dormouse monitoring of a woodland site near Caerphilly for the National Dormouse Monitoring Programme.
