Lucy joined BSG Ecology in November 2020.
Lucy has 20 years’ experience of working in both geographic information systems (GIS) and environmental conservation, with a particular emphasis in renewable energy. With a background in ecology Lucy brings a unique and valuable set of skills and knowledge to the team, providing outputs for a wide range of surveys, assessments and analyses (relating to peat restoration, bat and bird data, and including the development of automated tools for avian collision risk and constraints models).
Lucy’s role in all her work has been to provide robust and practical technical solutions through effective problem-solving, innovation and collaboration. She believes in ensuring high quality data through establishing effective databases and data management protocols that reduce double handling of data and maximise its value. Lucy is a strong believer in skill-sharing and has undertaken training and mentoring of colleagues in IT skills, GIS and data management.
Prior to entering the world of commercial consultancy Lucy worked as Senior Data Management Officer for the RSPB and on the Stone-curlew Species Recovery Project. A career highlight was as Project Manager of a GIS solution for the management, analysis and delivery of spatial data (SpIDA) which won an ESRI Special Achievement in GIS Award.
