Matthew joined BSG Ecology in April 2021 on placement from The University of Reading, where he is completing an MSc in Species Identification and Survey Skills.
Matthew’s degree covered a range of topics including legislation, GIS and species identification techniques. In addition Matthew has worked on the delivery of landscape conservation proposals. He also has experience in the application of various different industry standard bird survey techniques.
As part of his placement, BSG are providing Matthew with a rigorous training programme on protected species, phase 1 habitat survey, the desk study process, reporting and consultancy. The CIEEM competency framework is being incorporated to help guide the training.
Matthew has a BSc (Hons) in Natural History from The University of South Wales. As part of his studies he carried out independent research into the palaeoecology of ichthyosaurs, receiving the undergraduate prize in palaeontology.
