20 Nov 2020 BSG Ecology & Tawnywood Highly Commended for Best Biodiversity Enhancement at the Brownfield Awards 2020
We are delighted to announce that BSG Ecology and Tawnywood have been Highly Commended for the Best Biodiversity Enhancement award at the Brownfield Awards 2020. The Brownfield Awards are dedicated to acknowledging best practice in the brownfield, regeneration and contaminated land industry.
The Best Biodiversity Enhancement award recognises projects that “demonstrate respect for local ecosystems in a brownfield project, with long-term planning to enhance biodiversity and amenity value.” The award was won for our work with Tawnywood at Hartington Reclamation Site in Derbyshire, a former industrial plant, foundry and deep mine tip allocated for commercial development in the Local Plan.
BSG Ecology Director Kirsty Kirkham said: “We are very pleased to be highly commended for this award for our work with Tawnywood at Hartington. The site was very complex due to the range and quality of ecological features present, and the outcome is a really positive one for biodiversity.”
Nigel Morton of Tawnywood commented: ”This is a great accolade for Tawnywood and the project. BSG Ecology were critical to the success of the scheme and worked very effectively with the project team to achieve a positive outcome for both the local economy and biodiversity.”
BSG and Tawnywood would like to thank Environment Analyst for hosting an entertaining and enjoyable online award ceremony.
